Review of testing out an evaporation cooler on the east side of United States. Why did I test it out? According to the almanac the humidity drops to the ideal conditions from 12:00pm till 5:00pm. This is the hottest part of the day, with the humidity at the lowest during this time.

It don't work. Really that is all I need to say about it. It raises the humidity in the room and that's all you get from it. Checking the weather station revealed the humidity should have been low enough. Still didn't work. No cold air comes out while operating. I put ice in it so I could try and cool this way. The ice only lasted about 4 minutes.

An air conditioner is the only way your going to cool down a room in the east side of the United States. However, there is something in the future.

There is research and development being done by many companies for an evaporation cooler that can work on the east side. They have promising results, but have not started selling anything yet. It's called a Desiccant-Enhanced eVaporative air conditioner (devap). It could be a long time before it's available as a window unit. Right now they only testing out very large units for tall buildings. The article was written in 2019.
